John and Barbara Erb
It isn’t often that I’m lucky enough to find more than one picture of an individual at different points in their life but these show John and Barbara Erb in youth and old age, they look as if they had a long and hopefully a happy life together.

My wife, bless her tells me that I am rapidly becoming, or perhaps that should read have become a “Grumpy old fart”, so what better forum to spread my doom, gloom and paranoia than WordPress. I also have a love of old pictures, postcards and Edwardian Actresses, in particular Miss Gabrielle Ray which I hope to share at regular intervals. As my collection has grown I have set up another blog which contains only pictures of Miss Ray. Gabrielle Ray Thank you for viewing and comments are welcome.

Nice set of cards! I love to find photos of the same person too. They do look like they were a happy couple. Old Barb looks like my great grandma on a picture from 1920, same head gear, but she wasn’t Amish, only a country woman.
I find John’s clothing strange not quite in keeping with the Amish ordnung, the early one is understandable but not the wedding picture.
Hm I don’t know enough about Amish wear to comment. Are you sure they were Amish at all?
They were sold as Amish which doesn’t mean too much but Barbara is wearing the prayer kapp Wien by the Amish and Mennonites, her dress is consistent with either but also Quaker. In the older picture they are both wearing Amish style dress and Barbara’s is like the Old Order Amish. There is a link on the right with most of my Amish collection.
