Charlie sent this charming card to his love, Miss Rowley in Walsall, writing “I don’t know what to put on this card, well nothing that a postman dare read. How charming, just like you”. Given the period one has to wonder whether he became part of that “lost” generation, swallowed up on some nameless battle field or whether he survived and they lived a happy life.
