My wife, bless her tells me that I am rapidly becoming, or perhaps that should read have become a “Grumpy old fart”, so what better forum to spread my doom, gloom and paranoia than WordPress. I also have a love of old pictures, postcards and Edwardian Actresses, in particular Miss Gabrielle Ray which I hope to share at regular intervals. As my collection has grown I have set up another blog which contains only pictures of Miss Ray. Gabrielle Ray Thank you for viewing and comments are welcome.

Oh my how I loved her voice! I even got to like that “Me and Bobby McGee” song eventually, despite the teasing I got from my friends when it was on the radio. Even still, I decided to go by “Mak” from then on!
I think I was the only one who liked JJ when I was at school
I wonder how many others, besides the two of us, she had such a powerful impact on?
I thought, well still do that her voice is so original. When she played in London at the Royal Albert Hall but my Mother wouldn’t let me go, yes sad but true. There is a picture of her outside the Royal Albert and she has a small stain on her left upper thigh, it was said to be from “using” don’t know whether that was true or not but it was a sad loss when she died. Great performer, I have most of her LP’s and still play her CD’s, much to the chagrin of my kids 🙂
