Campaigns of curiosity

The final four images come from a book published in 1894 by an American Journalist, Elizabeth L. Bank called “Campaigns of curiosity” Banks worked as a maid, a flower girl and a laundry girl writing of her experiences working in what were seen and menial jobs

Catholic School Matron

Catholic School Matron

I’ve had a lot of discussions about this card, it was sold as a “Senior Maid” but the uniform looks too expensive for a maid regardless of her rank and I haven’t seen any where she would be displaying a cross unless she had been employed in a Catholic School, I therefore think that she could be a school Matron, but a lovely card nonetheless

Venice

My daughter found this card and it reminded me of a visit I made whilst at school in 1966, Venice was flooded and we had to navigate wooded planks to cross St Mark’s Square

And now some of my purchases, it’s always pleasing to find a new Maude Fealy card that I can afford
