Well Corseted Glamour – The Sketch – Wednesday 20th March 1940
WELL-CORSETED GLAMOUR.
ANN SHERIDAN, the Warner Brothers star, proves in her new picture, “IT ALL CAME TRUE,” that the Edwardian underwear which seems so comical to modern eyes was not entirely without glamour and charm. In this still she is wearing a pair of satin corsets laced up the back and fastened with steel busks in front, strange stiff “armour” which moulded all feminine figures in the early years of the century and were regarded as an indispensable part of the well-dressed woman’s wardrobe.
