The work of preparing for luncheon is greatly simplified for your maids if they have not to pay any attention to the fire, other than putting a light to it half an hour before the luncheon hour.
That is one reason why gas fires are so exceedingly useful for dining-rooms. More over, they make no dirt or dust, and therefore greatly lighten the work of both house and parlour maid.
