Lyons waitresses – The Sketch – Wednesday 7th January 1925
TEA-SHOP GIRLS– OF TO-DAY AND YESTERDAY: LYONS’ WAITRESSES OF PAST YEARS AND OF 1925.
Our photographs show interesting developments in the way of decorative dress for waitresses at the famous Lyons tea-shops. Above will be seen the long- skirted girl of past days, with her cap perched on the back of her head, and her stiff, hard collar. On the left is the pretty girl who waited on customers last year with a becoming head-dress, and short skirt, but still high-collared while on the right is the new Lyons Lady of 1925, with a Peter Pan collar, monogrammed cap, and tab, and natty row of chic buttons on the front of her smartly cut dress. It will be seen that a pleated apron fastened by a ribbon sash replaces the ordinary apron with cross-straps worn last year.
