The Girl Who Got Spanked
There is young woman in London who is regretting her foolishness in handing out white feathers, says the Daily Mirror.
She did it Piccadilly the other evening. She handed feathers to two young men in “civvies.” But they were both flight-lieutenants on leave. They answered the affront with typical R.A.F. dash. “Do we ignore it or spank her?” asked one.
“We spank her,” replied the other.
And in the middle of Piccadilly, before amused crowd, the pretty but vapid young blonde was gently hut firmly spanked across the knee of one of the officers.

Considering that the white feather is a symbol for cowardice, I would say the flight lieutenants were morally justified, even if not legally correct, in spanking this presumptive young woman. They were serving their country, and did not deserve to be called cowards.
Perhaps a little harsh as she clearly didn’t realise her error as they were in “civvies” but an amusing story though
