The hospital closed in 1983 and is now Millfield House, Retirement Flats,

the conversion was completed in 1987 and consists of 87 flats,

a two bed flat is currently £165,000

  1. I was a patient there a few times, once for an operation other times cluttering up the casualty department, with minor cuts. Once I managed to push a metal meat skewer through my finger, an entry and exit wound, I would be about 11 at the time.

    • I trained there between 1976 and 1978, it was a strange hospital but I liked it, Papworth was part of the training group. I don’t know whether you remember Wallnut Tree House, ghastly place, I was only there a couple of weeks before we moved into Hinchingbrooke Hospital

  2. I remember Walnut Tree House as being a hospital but I never had reason to set foot in it.
