“Quads” Go To Church

Hundreds Wait to See Them

Twenty Godparents

So great was the interest taken in the reception into the Church of the St Neots (Hunts.) quadruplets at Eynesbury Church yesterday that hundreds of people were unable to get into the building and had to wait outside to see them.

The quadruplets were privately baptised on November 29, the day after their birth, in the parish of Eynesbury, which adjoins St Neots.

The service yesterday was that provided in the revised prayer book. It was conducted by Canon South Phillips, and film was taken.

The babies were dressed in robes of lace and net over satin. They were taken to church in one car from their new home, The Gables, St Neots. Each had five godparents.

ONLY ONE CRIED.

Ernest was the only “quad” who cried during the ceremony, but that was not for long. In an address Canon Phillips explained the object of the service, saying that it was also one of thankfulness to God for preserving the lives of the babies and their mother. Speaking of the watchfulness and care of the doctor and nurses, he said it was due to them that the babies were now as beautiful and healthy as any in the world.
