Milly

 

My wife found this lovely postcard for me at yesterday evenings Bury Postcard Club meeting, on the surface it’s a picture of a pretty young girl called Milly, probably a bridesmaid at a family or friend’s wedding. The back tells a different story, Milly and her whole family died of TB when she was only 17, the cost of the card just £1 but really a priceless piece of social history. As an aside to this the number of deaths due to TB rose last year in over a decade
