Berta Duckstein 1877 – 1940
An interesting CDV, it isn’t often that I find a name on a CDV and less often their date of birth and death, my immediate thought was that Berta was the baby, however I think that she may have been the Nanny with the dates added following her death. I wondered whether, given her name whether she had been killed by the Germans for being Jewish.

The image was reversed, the message on the back to Mr and Mrs A. Smith reads, “To Great Grandad and Great Grandma,
wishing you a Happy Xmas and a Bright New Year. From Baby, with love and kisses to all” Dated 24th December 1912.
